On Thursday March 2nd 2017, the Huntington Foundation for Excellence in Education celebrated and honored two very important people in our district and community. Hundreds of supporters turned out from all over this incredible community and beyond! The elegance and splendor of a time gone by was once again eminent at this year’s 24th annual Gala that took place at the world renowned Oheka Castle. This magnificent Gold Coast Mansion, resting majestically on the highest point of Long Island as well as in the heart of Huntington, emanates the elegant refinement of a chateau in France coupled with a rich history that is distinctly American.
This year’s District Honoree was Mr. James Graber. James is a beloved Social Studies teacher at the High School who also serves as the Associated Teachers of Huntington President. Our Community Honoree was Mr. Michael Brown. Michael is an Alumni of Huntington and the Partner/Owner of Atlantic Auto Giant which boasts 22 car dealerships in New York and New Jersey. The HFEE Gala was an unforgettable evening with incredible and exclusive raffle prizes, silent and live auctions and HFEE’s Grand Prize Raffle of a brand new 2017 Lexus IS 300. The evening was filled with exceptional music, amazing food, unparalleled ambiance, and of course countless memories! We are always so grateful to the many sponsors and benefactors who make the evening possible and who continue to support us year after year! We are passionate about our mission and we now look forward to awarding Star grants to the very deserving teachers who submit creative and innovative ideas to enhance their classroom curriculum. Because of the generosity of so many HFEE was able to award $50,000 in grant money to our district! Our heartfelt gratitude to all who came to the Gala and to all those who might not have been able to join us this year but still support our mission. Ultimately it’s our children reaping the benefits of your generosity and who are the future of our community and of our world. We hope to see you all there next year!
