HFEE is back!

HFEEThe Huntington Foundation is back! Under the leadership of new president Jen Stevens, HFEE is looking forward to making an impact in the 2021-2022 school year. HFEE has created a new logo this year designed by HFEE board member Tara Polli (See Below). We have also updated and redesigned our website. The HFEE board members are currently planning and organizing our annual gala to be held in the spring where we will celebrate one very deserving district honoree and one worthy community honoree. Stay tuned for details!

In March 2020, HFEE honored Woodhull Intermediate teacher Allison Von Vange as well as Bon Bons Chocolatier’s owners Mary Alice and Susannah Meinersman at a gala held at The Mansion at Oyster Bay. Shortly after the event, the district shifted to virtual learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite the challenging past two years of the pandemic, HFEE was still able to award over $30,000 to the district in grants ranging from a Video broadcasting program at the High School to a computer prototyping lab at Finley. In addition, HFEE funded flexible seating for the Woodhull 5th grade dual language program as well as speech and heart health programs at the STEM school. Lastly, HFEE provided funding for an innovative rhythm-based whole brain learning program at Flower Hill. At the end of the 2021 school year, HFEE presented a $2,500 scholarship to graduating senior Bliden Martinez who is studying to become a history teacher at Suffolk Community College.

HFEE has begun planning our grant process for 2021 -2022; details about the application process will be forthcoming shortly.

The Huntington Foundation for Excellence in Education (HFEE) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for all students in the Huntington school district. The organization was founded in 1993, and since then, has enriched the Huntington school district through over one million dollars in grants aimed to improve student experiences within the district.

In addition to the members of the board of directors, HFEE is also aided by a youth board consisting of Huntington High School students, led by interns Victoria Mangan and Mary Grace Rorke. Members of the Youth Board also include Charlie Girimonti, Charlotte Cheshire, and Morgan Colleluori.
